The Dark Side of Roller Coaster Rides
Roller Coaster
Roller coaster rides- a part of the ever so popular family theme parks. They are as common as chewing gum nowadays, and their massive and complicated ‘bodies’ hold no wonder for even the most ordinary of people in the developed countries. We have learned to accept them and in many cases, ‘love’ them. Some might connect “roller coaster” with the word “fun”, some with the word “terrifying”. One thing that does not change however is the fact that we all find them exhilarating. That makes the seemingly ‘ordinary’ roller coaster rides a contradiction, like many human creations are.
Why have we built something so violent in its intensity? To develop the money producing amusement industry perhaps? Or to satisfy our primal need for excitement, our need to feel the rush of adrenalin, the feel of our hearts beating so fast that they are at their limit? Are we again looking for the prospect of dying while having ‘fun’, as our ancestors did? Those individuals who lived centuries before our modern world came into existence, feeding their adrenalin hungry hearts with battles, hunting and fighting. Feeding on the ever present prospect of death... Were those their own personal roller coaster rides? Is the human nature such, that the majority of us that do not face any other danger but the one that comes with everyday life, ‘amuse’ ourselves with those ‘metal giants’, which like everything that has been built by human hands can collapse in a second, becoming Death’s faithful apprentice. If that is so, have we built ‘amusement’ parks with such a dark intention behind them? Does human nature dictate that the chance of perishing forever is nothing as long as we can feel the wonderful sensation of our pulse, the prove that we are alive... the prove that we can die.

An interesting theroy, Ava-kun... but why worry about being Death's apprentice, or the nature of the rush to ride the metal giant? Hop on and enjoy. You live, it's fun. You die... well, I'm told decapitation's quick and painless. ^_^ But until then.
Later...

I rode a roller coaster only once. When I was already 47 years old. I was more concerned with my wallet falling from my pocket. Anyway, that was my last. And that was 9 years ago.
